Standardisation
The Sangam actively participated in the finalizing process of standardization of Tamil encoding systems and keyboard layouts. Spending many previous days, the members of the Sangam tested the draft standards released during the TamilNet99 meet. They incorporated many changes in the draft and submitted the recommendations to the standardization committee. Its finding and solutions were accepted. Finally, the Chief Minister of TamilNadu announced the Government decision on accepting the standards. It released the Government order in a well attended ‘acceptence function’, on —- at the Secretariat of state government.
